China implements export controls on tungsten, tellurium, bismuth, molybdenum and indium-related items

On February 4, 2025, China's Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs jointly issued an announcement on export controls on tungsten and other items.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce of China said that it is an internationally accepted practice to implement export controls on tungsten and other related items. As the world's major producer and exporter of tungsten and other related items, China has long been firmly fulfilling its international obligations such as non-proliferation. In accordance with the need to maintain national security and interests, it has implemented export controls on specific related items in accordance with the law. The addition of related items this time reflects the control concept of coordinating development and security, which is conducive to better maintaining national security and interests, better fulfilling international obligations such as non-proliferation, and ensuring the security and stability of the global industrial chain and supply chain. Exports that comply with relevant regulations will be permitted.
