Floods occur in Beijiang, Guangdong
On April 7, 2024, the Qingyuan Hydrology Branch of the Guangdong Provincial Hydrology Bureau reported that due to rainfall, the flow rate at Shijiao Station in Qingyuan, Guangdong, Beijiang, the Pearl River Basin, rose to 12,000 cubic meters/second at 6:35 on the 7th. According to the Ministry of Water Resources' "Major Rivers in the Country" Flood Numbering Regulations", numbered "Beijiang Flood No. 1 in 2024". This flow rate refreshed the historical record in April 1980, when the maximum flow rate was 11,800 cubic meters/second.
At 7:00 on April 7, the water levels at many hydrological stations in Qingyuan City exceeded the warning level. Among them, the water level at Yingde (5) Station in Yingcheng Town was 29.99 meters, exceeding the warning level by 3.99 meters. This means that some houses along the river in East Bank Tsui outside the Yingde Left Bank Highway Embankment Shops on the riverside streets outside the embankment may be flooded. It is recommended that the local area strengthen river patrols and stop business and relocate people according to the situation.
