Sudden floods in villages and towns surrounding Cenxi City, Guangxi

A sudden flood occurred in Liufei Village and other villages in Potang Town, Cenxi City, Guangxi, China. Two people have been killed, and rescue and rescue work is still in progress.

According to CCTV News, on the afternoon of May 6, 2024, continuous heavy rains caused sudden flooding in Liufei Village and other villages in Potang Town, Cenxi City, Guangxi, causing the two people to lose contact. As of 9 pm on the same day, both missing persons had been found, but the rescue efforts were ineffective and they had no vital signs. The rescue work is still in progress.

Video posted online showed that the impact of the flood was so powerful that several promotional boards were washed down, private cars were submerged in the flood, and various debris was floating in the flood.

According to the forecast of China Weather Network, the rain will be strong on May 6 in central and southwestern Guangxi. It is expected that rainfall will continue throughout Guangxi in the next three days, and strong convective weather may also occur locally.
