The China Sea marine heat wave forecast product independently developed by the National Marine Environment Forecast Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources of China (hereinafter referred to as the "Forecast Center") was officially put into commercial operation on May 12, 2024. This product is China's first marine heat wave forecast product, filling China's gap in this field.

Marine heat waves are abnormally warm water events in the ocean. They can occur in any area of the ocean, in any season, and can last from days to months on a time scale. The area covered can extend from a few kilometers to thousands of kilometers. This product can timely and accurately predict the occurrence and development of marine heat wave events, as well as the scope and intensity of their impact, and can provide key data and decision-making services for government decision-making departments to scientifically respond to the timing of extreme marine heat waves.
