Chinese Premier Li Qiang said during his visit to Adelaide Zoo that China will donate another pair of giant pandas to Australia after the two giant pandas living in the zoo return home at the end of this year.

According to Reuters, Li Qiang arrived in Canberra on Saturday (June 15, 2024) to start a four-day visit to Australia. After arriving, he said that China-Australia relations have returned to the right track of development after twists and turns.

Li Qiang visited Adelaide Zoo on Sunday (16th). Australian Broadcasting Corporation television footage showed that people gathered at the Adelaide Zoo, some waving Chinese flags to welcome Li Qiang's visit, and some holding up signs that read "No Panda Diplomacy". Li Qiang announced at the zoo that after the two giant pandas in the zoo return to China in November this year, Beijing will give another pair of giant pandas to Australia.
