A department store in Sichuan caught fire

A fire broke out in a department store in Zigong City, Sichuan Province, China, killing six people so far.

According to CCTV News, the command center of the Zigong Fire Rescue Brigade in Sichuan Province received an alarm at 6:11 p.m. on Wednesday (July 17, 2024) that a fire broke out at the Jiuding Department Store on Dangui Street in Zigong High-tech Zone. There was a lot of smoke at the scene and people were trapped.

After receiving the alarm, the command center immediately dispatched 20 vehicles and 92 people to deal with it. It is understood that the building on fire has a total of 14 floors. At present, fire points have been found on the 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th floors of the building group, and the interior is in a three-dimensional burning state.

As of 8:20 p.m., the open fire has been extinguished, 30 trapped people have been rescued, and six people have been killed. At present, the Neijiang Fire Rescue Brigade is heading to reinforce.
