A helicopter crashed in central Nepal on Wednesday (August 7, 2024), killing all five people on board, including a Nepali pilot and four Chinese passengers.

According to Reuters, the helicopter, operated by Air Dynasty, lost contact with air traffic control about three minutes after takeoff and crashed in the Himalayan forest of Shivapuri National Park in Nuwakot district, 57 kilometers from the capital Kathmandu.

Police confirmed that all five people on board were killed. The pilot was a Nepalese man, and the four passengers were three men and one woman, all Chinese citizens.

Nepal's aviation industry has flourished in recent years, but due to insufficient training and maintenance, coupled with Nepal's mountainous and harsh geographical environment, its aviation safety has always been a major problem. In the past 24 years, more than 360 people have died in aircraft crashes in Nepal.
