Heavy rain in Meizhou, Guangdong caused flash floods and landslides
Heavy rains hit many places in Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, China on Sunday (June 16, 2024). As of Monday (17th), mountain torrents and landslides occurred in many places, causing five deaths and 15 people missing.
According to the Guangdong Provincial Emergency Management Department, affected by heavy rainfall clouds, many places in Meizhou, Guangdong, experienced heavy rainstorms and local torrential rainstorms on the 16th. Among them, the 24-hour precipitation in Sishui Town, Pingyuan County reached 369.3 mm, and many places in the city were severely affected.
As of the 17th, mountain torrents and landslides occurred in Sishui Town, Renju Town, Dongshi Town, Nanlin Town, Jiaoling County, and Songyuan Town, Meixian District, causing five deaths, 15 people missing, and 13 people trapped.
