The Brazilian Consulate General in Chengdu officially opened on Thursday (June 27, 2024). This is the third consulate general opened by Brazil in China. Brazil has previously established consulates general in Shanghai and Guangzhou.

It is reported that the consular district of the Brazilian Consulate General in Chengdu includes Sichuan Province, Chongqing City, Guizhou Province, Yunnan Province and Shaanxi Province. Cesar Amara became the first Consul General of the Brazilian Consulate General in Chengdu.

China and Brazil established diplomatic relations in 1974, and in 1993 Brazil became the first developing country to establish a strategic partnership with China. In 2012, the relationship between the two countries was upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
