Chinese and Philippine ships collided again in the South China Sea on Sunday (August 25, 2024). The Philippines accused Chinese warships and coast guard boats of blocking a Philippine ship that was delivering supplies to Philippine fishermen in the South China Sea.

According to Reuters, the Philippines' South China Sea Working Group said in a statement that these Chinese ships used aggressive and dangerous actions, including ramming ships and using water cannons. The Philippine Working Group said that Chinese warships and Chinese coast guard boats aimed at the Philippine Fisheries Bureau ship in an attempt to surround and block humanitarian missions.

The Chinese Coast Guard said on social platforms that the Philippine ship No. 3002 illegally broke into the waters near Xianbin Reef (called Sabina Reef in the Philippines) without the permission of the Chinese government, and continued to approach the Chinese coast guard ship that was sailing normally. The Chinese Coast Guard took control measures against the Philippine ship in accordance with the law. The Chinese Coast Guard said that the Philippine ship No. 3002 ignored China's solemn warning at 2:12 pm and deliberately rammed China's normal law enforcement Coast Guard 21551 boat in an unprofessional and dangerous manner, resulting in a collision, and the responsibility lies entirely with the Philippines. "We urge the Philippines to immediately stop its infringement and provocation, otherwise all consequences arising therefrom will be borne by the Philippines."
