Li Xiaopeng, eldest son of former Chinese premier Li Peng, removed from office
The Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China announced on Friday (September 27, 2024) that Liu Wei was appointed as the Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Transport, and Li Xiaopeng was removed from his post as Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Transport.
The Ministry of Transport of China released the above news, but did not specify Li Xiaopeng's whereabouts.
Li Xiaopeng, 64, is the eldest son of former Chinese Premier Li Peng. He has worked in the power industry for a long time and served as the general manager of China Huaneng Group. He gave up business and entered politics in 2008. He was successively appointed as the vice governor, executive vice governor, acting governor and governor of Shanxi Province. In 2016, he was transferred to the position of Minister of Transport and Deputy Secretary of the Party Group. In May last year, he succeeded 69-year-old Yang Chuantang as Secretary of the Party Group of the Ministry of Transport.
