China's one trillion yuan ultra-long-term special government bonds will be issued starting from this Friday (May 17, 2024), with an initial term of 30 years and interest payments on a semi-annual basis.

According to reports, the Ministry of Finance of China announced on May 13, 2024, a notice on the arrangements for the issuance of general treasury bonds and ultra-long-term special treasury bonds in 2024. The ultra-long-term special treasury bonds involve maturities of 20 years, 30 years and 50 years, and interest is paid on a semi-annual basis. .

China's Ministry of Finance decided to issue 30-year ultra-long-term special treasury bonds starting from Friday, with a total of 22 issuances as of November 15. This treasury bond will be issued in three tranches, each tranche is issued in four installments. The second tranche is scheduled to be issued on July 24, and the third tranche is scheduled to be issued on September 24.

According to the arrangement, the 20-year ultra-long-term special treasury bonds will be issued in two batches from May 24 until November 8. The first batch was released in three batches, and the second batch was released in four batches on August 14. The 50-year ultra-long special treasury bonds will be issued for the first time on June 14, followed by two more issuances on August 9 and October 16. The content of the issuance plan is basically consistent with market rumors, but the specific amount of each bond issuance has not been announced.
