Chinese President Xi Jinping said that he warmly welcomes American tourists to travel to China and experience the real China firsthand.

According to China News Service, Xi Jinping sent a letter to the opening of the 14th China-US Tourism High-Level Dialogue on Wednesday (May 22, 2024). Xi Jinping said that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States. The foundation of Sino-US relations was laid by the people, the door of Sino-US relations was opened by the people, the story of Sino-US relations was written by the people, and the future of Sino-US relations will be jointly created by the people of the two countries.

Xi Jinping said that tourism is an important bridge for exchanges and mutual understanding between the people of China and the United States. China warmly welcomes American tourists to travel to China, meet Chinese friends, experience Chinese culture, visit beautiful mountains and rivers, and experience the real China first-hand. It is hoped that all walks of life in the two countries will take this high-level dialogue as an opportunity to have in-depth exchanges, build consensus, take active actions, promote personnel exchanges through tourism cooperation, continue Sino-US friendship through people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and help turn the "San Francisco Vision" into reality.

The 14th China-U.S. High-Level Tourism Dialogue opened in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province on the same day. The theme was "Tourism promotes cultural exchanges between China and the United States." It was co-sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the U.S. Tourism Promotion Agency.
