Japan's Yasukuni Shrine is vandalized again
Graffiti suspected to be left with a black watercolor pen was found on a stone pillar at Japan's Yasukuni Shrine. The graffiti contained Chinese characters such as "toilet" and some English letters.
According to Japan's NHK, staff at the Yasukuni Shrine in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, found graffiti suspected to be left with a black watercolor pen on the stone pillar next to the entrance of the shrine at around 3:50 a.m. on Monday (August 19, 2024), and the staff quickly called the police. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department is investigating on suspicion of damaging objects.
The police said that the graffiti this time was mainly Chinese characters, and some were letters. There were words with meanings such as "toilet" written on it in Chinese.
