A cruise ship capsized in Qinhuangdao, killing 12 people
On the afternoon of April 13, 2024, a ship capsized accident occurred in the waters of the Qinglong River in Taolinkou Village, Liujiaying Township, Lulong County, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, China. After on-site search and rescue and preliminary verification, the accident caused 31 tourists to fall into the water. All of them have been found and sent to the hospital. 12 of them died after rescue efforts failed, 10 were treated in the hospital with no life-threatening injuries, and 9 have returned home safely.
According to a preliminary investigation, on April 13, 155 tourists from Tangshan City took three buses organized by a travel agency and had lunch near Taolinkou Village. 31 of them went to the Qinglong River downstream of the Taolinkou Reservoir and took an illegally operated tour bus. The boat capsized and fell into the water while on a tour.
At present, the ship owner and relevant responsible personnel have been controlled by the public security organs.
