The second Chinese-made large cruise ship begins final assembly
On April 20, 2024, the second domestically produced large-scale cruise ship was docked at the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding No. 2 Dock of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and began final assembly. This also means that cruise ship construction has entered an accelerated period, and the hull will be rapidly formed.
At the No. 2 dock of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, the second domestically produced large cruise ship has entered the dock and completed the docking ceremony. After entering the dock, the hull segments will be quickly spliced together like building blocks, speeding up the construction of the cruise ship.
The second domestically produced large-scale cruise ship is larger in size and has more advanced equipment. Compared with the first ship, its total tonnage increased by 6,400 tons to 141,900 tons, and its total length increased by 17.4 meters to 341 meters. The number of guest rooms has also increased by 19, reaching 2,144, and 2 new sets of desulfurization systems and 5 sets of advanced environmental protection system equipment have been added to make the entire ship more green and environmentally friendly.
At the same time, the ship is equipped with a living and entertainment area as high as 16 floors, equipped with a large performing arts center, large restaurants, specialty restaurants, art corridors and other rich leisure and entertainment facilities. And by optimizing the design layout, the public area and outdoor activity and leisure area of the second domestic large-scale cruise ship have also increased to 25,599 square meters and 14,272 square meters, making the second ship even more exciting.
According to the plan, the second domestically produced large cruise ship will be named and delivered before the end of 2026.
