Another pair of giant pandas set to head to Madrid Zoo in Spain
Two giant pandas "Jin Xi" and "Zhuyu" from the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base in Sichuan, China will leave for the Madrid Zoo in Spain on April 29, 2024, to start a 10-year sojourn. Giant panda "Jin Xi" is male and was born on September 1, 2020; giant panda "Zuyu" is female and was born on October 25, 2020.
China and Spain are actively and orderly advancing the preparations for transportation, making every effort to ensure that the two giant pandas arrive at the Madrid Zoo safely and healthily, and can successfully adapt to the new environment. It is believed that the continuation of the China-Western giant panda cooperative research project will continue to promote the improvement of the protection level of endangered species in both countries and make a positive contribution to biodiversity conservation.
