A Chinese citizen was shot dead in Zimbabwe

The Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe issued a reminder on its official website on Sunday evening (July 27, 2025), saying that a Chinese-funded mining company in the Central Province of Zimbabwe was recently robbed at gunpoint. A Chinese citizen was shot and wounded by the robbers and died after rescue efforts failed. Upon learning of the incident, the embassy immediately organized a medical aid team to assist in the treatment, and urged the police to increase their efforts to crack down on the case and arrest the murderer as soon as possible, while taking measures to protect the safety of Chinese companies, institutions and citizens.

The Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe reminds local Chinese-funded companies and citizens to strengthen security measures, and hire professional security guards if conditions permit; pay attention to suspicious persons, do not go to places with crowded and complex environments when going out, do not expose cash and valuables, and try to avoid traveling alone and at night.
