Juran Zhijia CEO Wang Linpeng fell to his death
The board of directors of JuRan Smart Home confirmed on Monday (July 28, 2025) that Wang Linpeng, the company's actual controller, chairman, and CEO, tragically passed away at his home on Sunday (July 27).
Wang Linpeng, 57, known as the "Godfather of Home Furnishing Retail," has been at the helm of JuRan Smart Home since 1999, leading the company's continued growth and its IPO in 2019 through a backdoor listing with Wuhan Zhongshang. Following its IPO, JuRan Smart Home's stock price surged, reaching a market capitalization exceeding 70 billion yuan (RMB, the same below, S$12.5 billion), surpassing Red Star Macalline to become the largest home furnishing retailer listed on the A-share market. Wang Linpeng also became the richest man in Hubei Province with a net worth of 36.8 billion yuan. However, since 2022, JuRan Smart Home's performance growth has been sluggish, and profits have continued to decline, due to fluctuations in China's domestic economy and cyclical real estate markets.
JuRan Smart Home announced in April that Wang Linpeng had been detained and investigated by the Jianghan District Supervisory Committee of Wuhan City. Five days before the announcement of Wang Linpeng’s death (July 23), Ju Ran Zhijia announced that Wang Linpeng had been released from detention and his detention order had been changed to pending investigation.
