China's deep Earth energy exploration breaks through 10,000 meters
At 9:16 a.m. on October 15, 2025, the China National Petroleum Corporation's Sichuan Ke-1 well, located in Jiange County, Sichuan Province, reached a depth of over 10,000 meters. This deep-earth "superproject," characterized by extremely complex geological conditions and exceptional drilling challenges, has penetrated 23 formations, reaching the 540-million-year-old Sinian System, marking a key step forward for China in its exploration of deep Earth energy.
