Snow Leopard Attacks Skier in Xinjiang's Koktokay

According to a report by the People's Daily, around 19:00 on January 23, 2026, a skier was attacked and bitten by a snow leopard in the forested area beside a road while returning to a hotel in the Talat Village area of Koktokay Town, Fuyun County, Xinjiang. After alerting authorities, the injured individual was immediately transported to the Fuyun County People's Hospital for treatment and is currently reported to be in stable condition.

On the evening of January 23, 2026, the Fuyun County authorities issued a public notice stating that relevant departments, including the County's Forestry and Grassland Bureau, Public Security Bureau, and Koktokay Town, have intensified safety patrols, protective measures, and public awareness campaigns in the affected area.
