China’s Hua Hong Group Set to Commence 7nm Chip Production
According to Reuters, Huali Microelectronics Corporation (HLMC), a chip foundry under China’s Hua Hong Group, is preparing to implement 7-nanometer (7nm) semiconductor manufacturing processes at its Shanghai facility. Upon completion, HLMC will become the second Chinese chipmaker to master this advanced process node. Chinese technology giant Huawei has been collaborating with Hua Hong Group on the joint development of 7nm process technology.
Additionally, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) and several chipmakers affiliated with Huawei are expanding or planning to launch production utilizing their most advanced available technologies—including 7nm and even 5nm processes—to address China’s rapidly growing demand for artificial intelligence computing infrastructure.
