As Shanghai Disneyland celebrates its 10th anniversary on June 16, 2026, the resort is moving forward with several major expansion projects, headlined by a new Spider-Man-themed land.

The Ninth Themed Land: Spider-Man

The new Spider-Man-themed land is officially the park's ninth themed land and represents its third major addition since opening in 2016, following Toy Story Land (2018) and Zootopia (2023). Construction of this new land began in May 2025, and a significant milestone was reached just weeks ago when the final section of its iconic red roller coaster track was installed.

Upon completion, the land will feature Shanghai Disneyland's first major Marvel-themed attraction—a high-energy thrill coaster centered around Spider-Man. The area will also offer themed retail outlets, dining facilities, and entertainment venues that extend the Spider-Man story and immerse guests in the web-slinger's world. The new land is located adjacent to the Zootopia-themed area.

Additional Expansion Projects

Beyond the Spider-Man land, Shanghai Disney Resort is undergoing its most extensive expansion phase since opening. A third Disney-themed hotel, now officially named Shanghai Disney Enchanted Star Hotel, is under construction with 400 rooms and is scheduled to open in winter 2026. A fourth hotel, positioned just steps from the park's main entrance, is also in early development.

The resort has also announced a capacity expansion for the iconic attraction "Soaring Over the Horizon," alongside new entertainment offerings such as the "Wonderful Heart" castle stage show and an upgraded "Mickey's Storybook Express" parade launched in March 2026.

Park Milestone

Shanghai Disneyland has welcomed over 100 million guest visits since its opening, cementing its status as one of the world's most successful theme parks and a major engine for cultural tourism in the Yangtze River Delta region.
