The 2026 Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai, also known as MWC26 Shanghai, was held from June 24 to 26, 2026, at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). As Asia's largest and most influential event for the connectivity ecosystem, it marked the 13th edition of this landmark gathering.

Theme and Key Focus Areas

Under the theme "Inspire the Intelligence" or "Intelligent Evolution" (众智启新), the event focused on how digital infrastructure forms the foundation for an intelligent future. It comprehensively covered cutting-edge fields including 6G, mobile AI, embodied intelligence, smart healthcare, intelligent connected vehicles, and satellite/non-terrestrial network (NTN) communications.

Major Highlights and New Zones

MWC26 Shanghai introduced six new immersive zones to showcase frontier technologies:

  • Mobile AI Innovation Frontiers Zone: A live showcase of the full mobile AI stack—from chips and frontier models to AI-native devices like robots, smart glasses, and toys. A major attraction was the Humanoid Robot Football Penalties Challenge, featuring robots developed by Honor, including "Flash," the champion of the Beijing Yizhuang Humanoid Robot Half Marathon.
  • 6G Zone: The global debut of a dedicated 6G zone, providing a comprehensive view of China's 6G development. It featured demonstrations of technologies like 6G Agentic Communication Networks (ACN) and "6G Air-Space-Ground-Sea Integrated Digital Base Stations".
  • Constellations of the Future Zone: MWC Shanghai's first-ever dedicated satellite industry zone, highlighting the integration of terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks. It brought together global satellite leaders, including Geespace, Iridium, and Spacesail.
  • eSIM Zone, Smart Healthcare Zone, and Smart Mobility Zone (featuring a Formula E Gen3 EVO race car).

Industry Insights and Key Voices

The event featured over 200 speakers across various summits. Keynotes emphasized that AI is not just for the elite but should "equally illuminate every life". The GSMA also hosted the inaugural GLOMO Awards Asia at the event.

Economic Impact

According to the GSMA's Mobile Economy China 2026 report, mobile technology created $1.5 trillion in economic value for China in 2025, a figure expected to rise to $2.1 trillion by 2030.
