Heavy rains trigger floods in Pingjiang County, Hunan
Pingjiang County, Yueyang City, Hunan Province, China was hit by heavy rains, and the local government notified the public not to go out unless necessary.
It is reported that on Monday evening (July 1, 2024), the Pingjiang County Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters issued a notice that the county's flood control emergency response was upgraded to Level 1, and the county was put into flood control and rescue in a wartime state.
The local government issued a "Notice on Fighting the Severe Flood with Unity". The notice stated that the water level in Pingjiang County reached 77.25 meters at 4 pm on July 1, exceeding the guaranteed water level by 3.25 meters and the warning water level by 6.75 meters, the highest water level since 1954. According to the forecast of the meteorological department, from the afternoon of July 1 to July 3, the county will also experience heavy rain and local torrential rain, and the cumulative rainfall is expected to be 80-120mm.
