China opens 12 nuclear research facilities to the world
China has opened 12 nuclear research facilities to the world and is working with global counterparts to build a high-level international scientific and technological cooperation platform.
According to a press release issued by China National Nuclear Corporation on Tuesday (September 17, 2024), during the 68th International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference, the China Atomic Energy Agency (CAEA) and China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) held a China side event on "Open Sharing of Nuclear Research Facilities" at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna on Monday.
Liu Jing, deputy director of the China Atomic Energy Agency, said in his speech at the meeting that on the 40th anniversary of China's accession to the IAEA, China opened 12 nuclear research facilities. China is willing to work with all parties to build an open, fair, just and non-discriminatory international science and technology development environment, share advantageous technical resource platforms such as nuclear technology research and development, experimental testing, and engineering verification, and strengthen practical cooperation in joint research and development, scientific and technological exchanges, and talent training.
Yu Jianfeng, chairman of CNNC, said that CNNC welcomes counterparts from IAEA member states to deepen exchanges and cooperation on the use of these 12 large nuclear research facilities under the IAEA technical cooperation and coordinated research mechanisms, so that these research facilities can better serve the nuclear energy development of various countries.
