After a Japanese boy was attacked and killed in Shenzhen, China, Japan sent Deputy Foreign Minister Yoshifumi Tsuge to China to handle the incident.

According to AFP, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Sunday (September 22, 2024) that Yoshifumi Tsuge visited Beijing from Sunday to Tuesday to "deal with the death of a child at the Shenzhen Japanese School."

A 10-year-old boy who attended the Shenzhen Japanese School was attacked by a man with a knife on his way to school last Wednesday (September 18, 2024). The police later arrested a 44-year-old man at the scene of the crime. This is the second attack on Japanese in China in three months.
