Chinese scientists successfully developed a superconducting quantum computing prototype "Zu Chongzhi No. 3"
On March 3, 2025, the reporter learned from the University of Science and Technology of China that the school's researchers Pan Jianwei, Zhu Xiaobo, Peng Chengzhi and other researchers have cooperated with relevant domestic units to successfully build a 105-bit (including 105 readable bits and 182 coupled bits) superconducting quantum computing prototype "Zu Chongzhi No. 3", which has achieved a fast solution to the "quantum random circuit sampling" task.
Compared with the existing optimal classical algorithm, "Zu Chongzhi No. 3" processes quantum random circuit sampling problems 15 orders of magnitude faster than the fastest supercomputer currently, and 6 orders of magnitude faster than Google's latest results published in October 2024. This achievement is China's second record of superconducting system quantum computing superiority after the superconducting quantum computing prototype "Zu Chongzhi No. 2" achieved the strongest quantum computing superiority of the superconducting quantum computing system.
