Japan's Mitsubishi Motors completely withdraws from China's automobile manufacturing business
According to Kyodo News, Mitsubishi Motors announced on Tuesday (July 22, 2025) that it had terminated its joint venture with its Chinese partners and officially withdrew from its engine production business in China.
In 1997, Mitsubishi Motors established a joint venture company "Shenyang Aerospace Mitsubishi Motors Engine Manufacturing" with China Aerospace Automobile and other companies in Shenyang, Liaoning, to provide engine products for Mitsubishi and Chinese local automakers. Although Mitsubishi withdrew from vehicle production in China in 2023, the joint venture factory continues to operate and supply engines to local automakers.
Mitsubishi's decision this time marks the full withdrawal of the Japanese auto giant from the Chinese auto industry.
