Chinese Coast Guard drives Japanese fishing boats away from Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands waters

China Coast Guard (CCG) released a message on its official social media account on Monday (August 4, 2025). China Coast Guard spokesperson Gan Yu stated that the Japanese fishing vessel "Sanka Maru" illegally entered the waters of the Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands from August 1 to 4. Chinese Coast Guard vessels took control measures, issued warnings, and expelled the vessel.

Gan Yu stated that the Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands and their affiliated islands are inherent Chinese territory and urged Japan to immediately cease all illegal activities in the waters. The China Coast Guard will continue to carry out rights protection and law enforcement activities in the waters of the Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands to safeguard China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
