Former Beijing Military Region Commander Li Xinliang passes away
According to Chinese media reports, General Li Xinliang, former commander of the Beijing Military Region, died in Beijing on Wednesday (August 13, 2025) at the age of 89 after failing to recover from illness.
Li Xinliang was born in November 1936 in Laiyang, Shandong Province. He was awarded the rank of major general in 1988, promoted to lieutenant general in 1993, and general in 1998. He also served as the chief commander of the 1999 military parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
