2026 Chinese Spring Festival Mascot "Auspicious Horse" Unveiled
On November 25, 2025, China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism unveiled the "Auspicious Horse," the mascot for the 2026 "Happy Chinese New Year" celebrations.
The "Happy Chinese New Year" event, organized by China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, has been held annually for 25 consecutive years since 2001. The mascot for the "Happy Chinese New Year" was officially introduced in 2023, featuring the Chinese zodiac as its core image to convey festive greetings to the world.
The design of the "Auspicious Horse" draws inspiration from the Eastern Han Dynasty bronze galloping horse unearthed in Wuwei, Gansu—known as the "Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow"—and incorporates the mane decoration style of the Tang Dynasty's "Five-Flower Horse." The primary color is Chinese red, complemented by traditional patterns such as cloud and ruyi motifs, reflecting the warm and festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year.
