According to CCTV News, China’s independently developed T1200-grade ultra-high-strength carbon fiber was globally unveiled on March 11, 2026, marking a breakthrough that fills a critical technological gap in the global advanced materials sector.

Developed by China National Building Material Group (CNBM), the newly launched T1200-grade carbon fiber is not merely a laboratory prototype but a fully industrialized product with established production capacity at the scale of hundreds of tons. This milestone positions China as the world’s first country to achieve industrial-scale manufacturing of carbon fiber at this performance grade.

With a diameter less than one-tenth that of a human hair, the T1200-grade fiber boasts a tensile strength ten times greater than ordinary steel while maintaining a density only one-fourth that of steel—exemplifying an exceptional balance of lightness and resilience. Owing to these superior properties, the material is poised for extensive application across strategic emerging industries, including aerospace, the low-altitude economy, and humanoid robotics.
