Shuangliu Yangtze River Bridge in Wuhan Officially Opens to Traffic
The Shuangliu Yangtze River Bridge in Wuhan, Hubei Province, officially commenced trial operation on March 20, 2026. Following its opening, the river-crossing travel time between Xinzhou District of Wuhan and Huarong District of Ezhou City has been dramatically reduced from 90 minutes to just 5 minutes.
According to reports, the bridge features a main span of 1,430 meters and a deck width of 50.5 meters, constructed to an eight-lane standard (four lanes in each direction). It is currently recognized as the widest steel box girder suspension bridge spanning the Yangtze River.
