Yang Yuanqing, Chairman and CEO of Lenovo, has personally donated 200 million yuan to his alma mater, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), to support research innovation and talent development in the field of artificial intelligence.

According to The Paper, Yang returned to SJTU on the afternoon of Monday, April 6, 2026, to make the personal donation. He also facilitated a new round of strategic cooperation between Lenovo and the university. Under this agreement, Lenovo will invest 300 million yuan over the next five years, focusing on three key areas: research collaboration, talent development, and investment incubation, marking a significant upgrade in university-enterprise collaboration.

This marks the third time Yang has personally donated to support his alma mater. In 2015, he donated 10 million yuan to establish an education fund, and in 2021, he contributed 100 million yuan to build the "Siyuan No. 1" scientific computing center. Additionally, Lenovo and SJTU established a strategic partnership in 2021, with a cumulative investment of over 200 million yuan in the past five years.
