China to lead the formulation of international standards for autonomous railway driving
According to the China Railway Construction News, at the 9th General Assembly of the International Organization for Standardization ISO/TC269/SC3 held in Stockholm, Sweden, experts from 13 countries including France, Germany, and Japan and UIC observers voted unanimously and approved the project proposal of the special working group "Guidelines for Operating Rules for the Application of Autonomous Driving Mode" led by Feng Mei, a technical expert from China Railway Construction Fourth Engineering Bureau, and decided to establish a working group. Feng Mei will serve as the convener of the working group and the leader of the project team, leading the standard compilation work.
According to reports, the "Guidelines for Operation Rules for the Application of Automated Driving Mode" focuses on the field of automated driving, which is currently a hot spot in the world's railway industry. The project targets the application of automated driving on trunk railways in countries and regions such as China, Europe, and Japan. By identifying the impact of the application of automated driving mode on key elements of railway operations (positions, processes, responsibilities, etc.), it proposes principles for the compilation of macro-operation rules. This is the world's first ISO international standard (TR) on railway automated driving, and it is also the first ISO international standard led by China Railway Construction, which has achieved a major breakthrough in international standard work.
