Japan: China's Liaoning aircraft carrier carried out 410 carrier-based aircraft take-offs and landings
According to statistics from the Japanese Ministry of Defense, the Chinese aircraft carrier Liaoning fleet carried out a total of 410 carrier-based aircraft and helicopter take-offs and landings in waters near Japan in the past week.
On September 18, 2024, China's Liaoning aircraft carrier, accompanied by two destroyers, sailed between two Japanese islands near Taiwan for the first time. According to the Japanese Ministry of Defense, the Liaoning aircraft carrier formation sailed through the waters of the northeast corner of Taiwan and then passed through the waters between Yonaguni Island and Iriomote Island in Okinawa.
The Joint Staff Office of the Japanese Ministry of Defense issued a press release on its official website on Friday (September 27, 2024), disclosing the activities of the Liaoning formation in the waters around Okinotorishima from September 20 to 26, and announced that several missile destroyers sailed together during the period, including the 052D missile destroyers "Huainan" and "Chengdu".
