A prisoner in Heilongjiang held a protest against the chaotic management of the prison where he was held
A prison in Heilongjiang, China was reported to have chaotic internal management, with prisoners gambling in the prison area and using mobile phones to communicate with the outside world in violation of regulations.
According to a report by the Chinese media "New Yellow River" on Saturday (September 28, 2024), Wang Yong (pseudonym), a released prisoner, reported to "New Yellow River" that the internal management of the Liusan Prison in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, was chaotic. With the connivance of the prison guards, the prisoners played cards and gambled in the prison area for a long time and used mobile phones to communicate with the outside world in violation of regulations.
Wang Yong said that he had symptoms in his lower body during his sentence. Because the prison guards failed to take him to treatment in time, it eventually led to necrosis of the left testicle, which in turn affected his fertility. Wang Yong sued the hospital involved and the Liusan Prison for this.
The Heilongjiang Provincial Prison Administration Bureau issued a notice on Sunday (29th): "Regarding the issues related to the provincial Liusan Prison reported by the media recently, our bureau attaches great importance to it and immediately set up an investigation team. It entered the prison on the evening of September 28 and has launched an investigation into the reported issues. The results of the investigation and the handling of the situation will be announced in a timely manner."
