Huawei releases new artificial intelligence chip
Chinese tech giant Huawei released its latest supernode products, the Atlas 950 SuperPoD and Atlas 960 SuperPoD, on Thursday (September 18, 2025). The company claims these products lead the market in key metrics such as card size, total computing power, memory capacity, and interconnect bandwidth, and will remain the "world's most powerful" supernodes for many years to come.
Huawei's supernode computing solutions are reportedly built using chip manufacturing processes available in China. The Atlas 950 SuperPoD and Atlas 960 SuperPoD supernodes will support 8,192 and 15,488 Ascend cards, respectively. Over the next three years, Huawei has planned several Ascend chips, including the 950PR, 950DT, and the Ascend 960 and 970. The 950PR will be launched in the first quarter of next year.
