13 tourists were injured by lightning in Huangshan Scenic Area in Anhui Province
A lightning strike occurred in Huangshan Mountain, a famous scenic spot in Anhui Province, China, injuring 13 tourists. The area involved has been temporarily closed.
The Huangshan Scenic Area Management Committee reported on the official WeChat public account on Sunday (May 26, 2024) that the Huangshan Scenic Area received a call at 4 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, saying that a lightning strike occurred in the Feilaishi area and tourists were injured. Rescue workers then rushed to the scene and safely transported 13 injured or unwell tourists to Yamashita Hospital.
According to the report, after preliminary investigation, a sudden lightning hit the guardrails around the flying rocks, causing gravel to splash and injure some nearby tourists. So far, except for one tourist who was transferred to the hospital for further observation and treatment due to burns, other tourists with minor injuries have all left the hospital and returned after treatment. The Feilaishi scenic spot has been temporarily closed. Professional organizations will be organized to conduct on-site inspections and repairs as soon as possible.
