Hua Chunying appointed Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China
The official website of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China announced personnel appointments on Monday (May 27, 2024). Hua Chunying was appointed as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, and Qu Yunhai was dismissed from his position as deputy director of the National Immigration Administration.
According to public information, 54-year-old Hua Chunying was born in Huaiyin District, Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province in 1970 (formerly Huaiyin County); in 1988, she was admitted to Nanjing University with the first place in the county to study in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature of Nanjing University.
Hua Chunying was directly admitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China after graduation in 1992 and served as a staff member in the Department of Western Europe. From 1995 to 1999, she served as staff, attaché and third secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore.
In 1999, Hua Chunying served as Third Secretary and Deputy Director of the Department of Western Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and then as Second Secretary, First Secretary and Counselor of the Chinese Mission to the European Union for seven years.
In 2010, Hua Chunying served as the counselor of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Two years later, she became the deputy director of the Information Department and the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She is the fifth female spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs after Li Jinhua, Fan Huijuan, Zhang Qiyue, and Jiang Yu. people.
On November 16, 2012, she appeared in the press conference hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the first time as a spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and met with media reporters. After working as deputy director for seven years, Hua Chunying became director of the Information Department in 2019, becoming the first female director of the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since China's reform and opening up.
In 2021, Hua Chunying served as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, responsible for press, protocol and translation work until this adjustment.
