Hong Kong woman charged with criminal offence for damaging National Day posters
A Hong Kong woman was arrested by police on suspicion of destroying several posters celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in Tsuen Wan District and was charged with nine counts including criminal damage.
According to Sing Tao Daily, after several National Day posters were destroyed in Tsuen Wan District, Hong Kong, the police arrested the 64-year-old suspect Lam Ke-yan on Friday (October 4, 2024). When the police arrested her, they found a pair of scissors on her.
Lam Ke-yan was charged with one count of controlling tools for illegal purposes and eight counts of criminal damage. The case was first heard at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts on Monday (October 7). The prosecution revealed in court that Lam Ke-yan was receiving treatment in the hospital and was unable to appear in court. The judge adjourned the case to October 10.
