Xi Bei to Close 102 Outlets Across China, Accounting for 30% of Its Stores
According to a China Newsweek report on Thursday (January 15, 2026), Jia Guolong, founder of the Chinese restaurant chain Xi Bei, confirmed that recent online rumors about the company planning to close 102 outlets are true. These closures represent 30% of its total national store count, with the majority concentrated in first- and second-tier cities, affecting approximately 4,000 employees.
It is reported that since Xi Bei became embroiled in a public dispute with Luo Yonghao over pre-made dishes last September, none of its outlets have been profitable. To date, the company's cumulative losses have exceeded 500 million yuan. In addition to publicly admitting mistakes in media interviews, Xi Bei also continued to issue large-value dining coupons in October and November last year, with the total amount reaching over 300 million yuan.
In an exclusive interview, Jia Guolong revealed that in January 2026, store sales saw a 50% year-on-year decline.
