China announces visa exemption for foreign tour groups arriving by cruise ship
China officially announced that from now on, foreign tourist groups entering the country by cruise ship from 13 cruise ports including Haikou and Sanya in Hainan will be exempted from visa requirements for a stay of no more than 15 days.
The National Immigration Administration of China held a press conference on May 15, 2024 and announced that from now on, foreign tourist groups (two or more) that enter China by cruise ship and are organized and received by domestic travel agencies can travel from Tianjin, Dalian, Liaoning, and Shanghai Cruise ports in 13 cities including Lianyungang in Jiangsu, Wenzhou and Zhoushan in Zhejiang, Xiamen in Fujian, Qingdao in Shandong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen in Guangdong, Beihai in Guangxi, Haikou in Hainan and Sanya are exempted from visa application for the entire group to enter and stay for no more than 15 days.
The China Immigration Administration stated that the tour group must accompany the same cruise ship to the next port until the current cruise ship departs. The scope of activities is coastal provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government) and Beijing City.
The Immigration Administration also announced that seven cruise ports in Dalian, Lianyungang, Wenzhou, Zhoushan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Beihai will be added as ports applicable to China’s transit visa exemption policy to facilitate foreign passengers who meet the conditions of China’s transit visa exemption policy to take cruises. transit.
