Carbon dioxide leaked from a coal mine in Heilongjiang, killing five people
A carbon dioxide leak occurred at a coal mine in Heilongjiang, China, trapping nine people and killing five of them.
According to Xinhua News Agency, a carbon dioxide leak occurred in the Xing'an Coal Mine of Hegang Mining Company of Heilongjiang Longmei Group on Monday night (May 20, 2024), trapping nine people. Currently, five people were killed in the accident, and four others have escaped through rescue. The incident was initially determined to be caused by a leak when liquid carbon dioxide was injected into the closed goaf. Cause of the accident is under further investigation.
According to China Times, Tianyancha App information shows that Heilongjiang Longmei Group Hegang Mining Co., Ltd., located in Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province, was established in 2014 and is an enterprise mainly engaged in coal mining and washing. An accident occurred at this coal mine on May 31, 2020, resulting in one death.
