China's Ministry of Commerce announced that in order to safeguard national security and interests, it will implement export controls on some aerospace parts from July 1, 2024.

According to the website of China's Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Commerce, the General Administration of Customs and the Equipment Development Department of the Central Military Commission issued an announcement on Thursday (May 30, 2024) on the implementation of export controls on relevant items.

The announcement stated that China will implement export controls on items such as equipment, software and technology related to aerospace structural parts and engine manufacturing, equipment, software and technology related to gas turbine engine/gas turbine manufacturing, equipment, software and technology related to space suit windows, and items related to ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fibers.

The statement said that companies that wish to export items including aerospace structural parts, equipment and software for engine manufacturing will need to apply to the Ministry of Commerce through provincial-level commercial authorities.

After receiving the application, the Ministry of Commerce will review it and make a decision to grant or not grant permission within the statutory time limit. If the permission is granted after review, the Ministry of Commerce will issue a dual-use item and technology export license.
