China's mainland to open 100 ports for issuing travel permits to Taiwanese residents
China's mainland announced that starting Thursday (November 20, 2025), it will expand the number of ports authorized to issue single-entry Taiwan Compatriot Permits to 100, with relevant preparations already completed.
Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, announced the measure during a press conference on Wednesday (November 19), stating that the 100 ports include 56 air ports, 27 waterway ports, and 17 rail and road ports.
She mentioned that first-time visitors to the mainland will enjoy two exclusive benefits: exemption from application fees for the Taiwan Compatriot Permit and free access to over 3,000 tourist attractions.
Zhu added, "As winter approaches, we warmly welcome our Taiwanese compatriots to participate in ice and snow sports or cultural tourism activities in the northeastern and northwestern regions, to visit relatives and friends, tour scenic spots, and explore their roots across the mainland. We will continue to create better conditions and provide improved services for Taiwanese compatriots coming to the mainland."
